South Korea international striker Hwang Eui-jo, 31, was named to the substitutes’ bench for the first time since joining Nottingham Forest in the English Premier League (EPL), but did not get a chance to play.
Hwang was named to the substitutes’ bench for Nottingham Forest’s 2023-24 EPL Second Round home match against Sheffield United at The City Ground in Nottingham, England, on Sept. 19, but failed to take the field.안전놀이터
Hwang joined Nottingham in August of last year after playing for Girondins Bordeaux in the French professional soccer league, but was quickly loaned to Olympiakos in Greece after the club was relegated to the second division. However, after being deemed a virtual non-factor at Olympiakos, he was sent on a short-term loan to K League 1 side FC Seoul in February this year, looking for a chance to rebound.
He returned to Nottingham ahead of this season, and his consistent performances in the preseason have raised expectations of his performance this season. He was left off the roster for the first regular-season game against Arsenal on Sept. 12, but was named to the substitutes’ bench for the first time in an EPL match. However, Hwang was ultimately unselected as Nottingham used five substitutes.
After losing 1-2 to Arsenal in the first leg, Nottingham defeated Sheffield 2-1 on Sunday for their first win in their opening two games. Nottingham got off to a flying start, with striker Tywar Hourini opening the scoring just three minutes into the game from a Serge Aurier cross.
Leading 1-0, Nottingham equalized three minutes into the second half through Sheffield’s Gustavo Hamer with a mid-range shot. But veteran New Zealand striker Chris Wood, who came on as a second-half substitute, scored the winning goal to secure a dramatic victory.
Wood rattled the net with a header from Aurier’s cross from the right flank. Orié, who played alongside Son Heung-min at Tottenham from 2017 to 2022, was named man of the match after assisting on both of his team’s goals on the day.
Nottingham, meanwhile, travel to Manchester United for the third round on Oct. 26.
